7. Travel Information
7.1 Weather
The city of Suzhou is located in the center of the Yangtze Delta. It is adjacent to the city of Shanghai to the east. As it lies in the northern edge of the subtropical zone, it has four distinct seasons with a yearly average temperature of 15.7 ℃. June is a fine tourism season in Suzhou and the average temperature is about 24℃. During the conference, the temperature in Suzhou ranges from 20 to 30 ℃ and there may be rain. It is recommended that participants should take rain gear and summer clothes such as shirts, blouses and unlined coats. 7.2 Currency and Credit Cards
National currency is RMB (¥), which is convertible at banks at exchange rate of approximately 6.35 RMB to 1 USD, varying in accordance with market rates.
An amount of no more than USD 5,000 (or the equivalent in foreign currency) can be freely brought into or out of China. Extra sums must be declared to the customs upon arrival or departure. Internationally recognized credit cards are accepted in all major hotels and some restaurants, department stores and shops. Please check it before transaction.
7.3 Electricity
Electricity supply in China operates at 220 volts AC, 50Hz. Participants are reminded to bring your own adaptor for use throughout the meeting.
7.4 Medical Insurance
All participants are advised to get travel insurance before traveling to China.
